Dresden Style Stollen

Stollen is a classic German Christmas cake. Stollen's most famous city is Dresden, where Christmas stollen has been baked since the 15th century. Part cake, part fruit bread, stollen is made with a yeast=leavened dough, to which is added candied citrus, run-soaked raisins, almonds and warming spices. Rich marzipan runs through select cakes, but not traditional Dresden style stollen. Stollen improves as it ages and will be at peak flavour in time for your holiday entertaining.
